The way your charity receives funds depends on the payment method connected to your GiveWheel charity profile. GiveWheel currently supports payouts via Stripe, Charities Trust, and bank transfer.
Receiving funds via Stripe
If your charity has connected a Stripe account, you'll receive payouts every month, even while fundraisers are still ongoing.
Payouts are initiated on the 1st of each month.
Funds typically arrive in your Stripe account within 2 working days.
Any donations received since the previous payout will be included in the next monthly payment.
Gift Aid
Gift Aid is not automatically reclaimed when your charity receives funds via Stripe.
Instead, you can download a report containing all eligible Gift Aid declarations from your GiveWheel charity dashboard, allowing you to claim Gift Aid directly from HMRC or through your preferred Gift Aid reclamation service.
Receiving funds via Charities Trust
If your charity has chosen to receive funds via Charities Trust, payouts are also made monthly, even while fundraisers remain active.
Payouts are initiated on the 1st of each month.
Charities Trust typically transfers the funds to your organisation within 5–10 working days of receiving them from GiveWheel.
Charities Trust fees
Charities Trust deduct a 2.5% disbursement fee before transferring the funds to your charity.
Gift Aid
One advantage of receiving funds through Charities Trust is that they will reclaim eligible Gift Aid on your behalf and pass this on to your charity once it has been received from HMRC, less their 4.5% reclamation fee.
Receiving funds via bank transfer
If your charity receives funds via bank transfer, payouts are handled differently.
Rather than monthly payments, we'll transfer the funds as a single lump sum once the fundraising page has closed (which is typically 3 months after the event has taken place, though this can be customised by the fundraiser). This means your charity will receive all funds raised through that page in the next available payment run after its closure date.
Similarly to receiving funds via Stripe, Gift Aid is not automatically reclaimed when your charity receives via bank transfer. You can download a report containing all eligible Gift Aid declarations from your GiveWheel charity dashboard, allowing you to claim Gift Aid directly from HMRC or through your preferred Gift Aid reclamation service.
Can we switch to monthly payouts?
Yes. If your charity currently receives funds via bank transfer but would prefer to receive monthly payouts while fundraisers are still active, you can connect a Stripe account instead.
To do this:
Register as a charity administrator (if you haven't already).
Log in to your charity dashboard.
Navigate to Payment Settings.
Connect your Stripe account.
Once connected, future donations will be included in the next monthly payout run.
